What's New: 1.20.10

We have many events on the docket for the upcoming year and it includes very ambitious schedule of events and workshops. We are finalizing guest teachers and events and hope to have at least the next six months posted in a few weeks. We started the year with 5 glorious days with Jane Slicer Smith. WE were all wowed by her designs and talent and we all now know what will improve the fit of any garment we knit.

February will boast a Customer Appreciation Event and the introduction of many new spring yarns into the shop. In March we will host our annual Spring Yarn Tasting. Watch for details.

The Winter/Spring 2010 Class schedule is available as a PDF file which you can download and print in color or black and white. We have printed copies at the store as well. Our webmistress has updated the website as well so you can now register online or by calling the shop. There are a few upcoming classes that start in the next couple of weeks that you won't want to miss. Samples are available at the shop for most classes.

Einstein Jacket starts Saturday, January 30. This classic garter stitch jacket is a great first sweater project. It is knit on chunky yarn and can be knit in a shorter length.

One 4 hour session to complete a pair of Quick to Knit Mittens on January 30.

4 sweater classes start the beginning of February. Classes are spaced to ensure adequate knitting time and completion close to the date of the last class.

Norwegian Sweater starts Monday, February 1. (Kits must be ordered at least 5 days before class starts) There are 4 styles to choose from and we will custom order colors per individual.

Lara Sweater starts February 7. This is a timeless sweater knit from side to side.

Katarina starts February 8. Thora Lee did a great sample of this go anywhere sweater in Shepherds Wool. The Panel Jacket starting on February 10 is knit in garter stitch panels and then assembled. It is a quick knit that you can take anywhere.

What's New?

Addi Turbo is making the Click Cases available to any of you who purchased clicks prior to the current packaging or any or you who want them for your interchangeable sets at a reduced rate if I order by January 31. I can only purchase these at a reduced cost by that date. If you are interested in a case for your interchangeable set, call the shop and let me know. The cost for those ordered by 1/31/10 is $27; Cost after that date will be $51.

I will be offering a few dates to come and knit with me. I will be varying between weeknights and weekends. There is not cost and no preregistration. I can offer you a cup of hot tea or coffee and the companionship of those who share your passion for knitting or crochet. Join me this coming Monday, January 25 from 6 to 8 pm. I have completed the body portion of my retreat project and urge other retreat knitters to join me on Monday evening.

Freebies & Resources

A pattern for an Infinity Scarf seems to be requested almost as much these days as cowls and mittens. These have often been referred to as an "eternity scarf," and often a mobius. Some have a twist and others no twist. Cat Bordhi has the corner on the greatest mobius patterns but there are others out there on the web as well. The scarves are usually quite long and when doubled resemble a large cowl up near the neck. Our Knit Club members may remember the eternity scarf we did a few years ago. I did some searching and came up with some free patterns and a few other resources. There is a great pattern in the newest edition of Vogue Knitting on sale now at the shop.
