What's New: 2.17.10

The Amazing Threads Olympic Challenge is in full swing. Our group includes both newbies and seasoned knitting veterans. We are all loving the challenge and the games. Our Olympic Challenge will end at the conclusion of the Closing Ceremony on Sunday evening. Remember, the only rule is to knit your heart out as you cheer for your favorite athletes.

Please email me a picture of your finished project and note the yarn and pattern used by Monday, February 22, 2010 at 9:00 pm. We will announce the winner of the interchangeable bamboo needle set in next week's blast on Tuesday night.

Upcoming Class with space: Mittens Your Way starts February 24. You can choose your method of knitting (Double points, 2 circular needles or the magic look) AND they style and gauge of yarn. Lindsey is our mitten guru and she makes knitting mittens fun. If you can knit, purl, increase, decrease this class if for you.

The winter weather is waning we all hope. But as history has shown, Mother Nature is apt to fling a few more flurries and a bunch of rain at us before we can return to outside walks and garden preparation. I am working on a pair of wristers designed by Margaret at the shop. Wristers seem to be seasonless. It takes only 2 skeins of Trendsetter Merino 8 and I can get one done in an evening. It includes some simple cables but if you can knit, purl, increase and decrease, you are good to go. We give it away at the shop with the purchase of Merino 8 to make a pair. Also check out this pair. Just google Knit Wrister Pattern and you will find more patterns than time to knit!

This Anthropologie Inspired sweater has been a favorite noted by me in my weekly blast in November or December of 2009. Check out how great this looks knit in Noro Tayio. We have plenty in stock. This Noro version is courtesy of turtlegirl76 on Ravelry. What a difference a yarn makes and tayio is seasonless.

Too many yarns to list. Here is just two of our wonderful mid-season wools. We have new colors of Mochi+ and Mini Mochi, PLUS Mochi+ is now stocked in solids. This wonderful superwash merino yarn is a wonderful knit. It has vibrant color, washes in the machine and is very soft to the hand.

Also new to the shop is Worsted Merino wool superwash in 24 solid colors from Plymouth. This yarn was available last year but we had no more room in the shop to add it before now. It is to your benefit that we are always full of new and exciting yarns. It has 217 yards per skein and a wonderful spring when you knit. It holds its shape and has a great, soft hand.
