What's New: 5.5.10

Mother Nature threw a bit of a tantrum tonight which blew out our phones and internet. Home I went to get the blast out. But for some reason I kept sending out drafts Without any pictures. It is now late and I am still having problems. I hope my pictures make it through on this draft.

Tina and I have been meeting with reps from multiple companies these last few weeks with a few more to go before we are off to Columbus for market in June. The fall knitwear trends are exciting.

Colors for fall include foggy neutrals, icy blues, warm golds and greens, plus intense red, orchid and chocolate truffle. Brown remains the new black.

Pantone, the guru of color, publishes color data by year and season. You can download a pdf for bedside reading and planning.

Stylewise we are seeing loose, drapey tops, military styling, plaids, leggings and cuffed trousers. European influence includes unstructured styles, layering and funky yarn as well as both real and fake fur-like trims. We see lots of textured yarns, zippers everywhere (some functional and some not) and cables galore.

Big knits with chunky, bulky and super bulky yarns continue along with Tweeds. Scarves return and are knit with both basic yarns and novelties. YES, I said Novelties.

European Trends are a bit more out there, but may be the secret of things to come.

Mother's Day is THIS SUNDAY.
