What's New: 7.7.10

The Fourth of July has come and gone. So much yarn, so little time.

As much as I try, I seem to get less knitting time in the summer. I enjoyed my car knitting time this past weekend and did sit on the deck by the lake knitting on this years retreat project. But great summer weather often interferes with getting as much done as I think I should. My list of "to knit" seems to grow every season.

Retreat information & our scheduled project(s) will be published in August. Our annual retreat is scheduled for November 12, 13, & 14, 2010 at Grandview Lodge.

Boxes full of yarn continue to arrive daily. Lots of new patterns and books are arriving as well. New patterns are always put in a separate pattern book so they are easy to find and new books can be found at the front of the store.

New from Knitting Pure & Simple.

I love the super bulky mittens.

WE got in a large shipment of Fantasy Naturale Cotton & Dreambaby DK today. Even with a price increase, out Fantasy Naturale is still a bargain at $6.00 per skein & we wind it into a hank so it is ready to knit.

Class Update

There are a couple great classes coming up that have openings. Susan Rainey is again teaching "Breaking the Code" & "Swallow Tail Shawl" starting Saturday, July 10. Breaking the Code is a 3 hour, 1 session class that will teach you to read your knitting. Once you can read your knitting, you will know how to catch mistakes and easily figure out where you are in your pattern.

Want to correct your mistakes and get back to your knitting? Join Yvonne for a one session class and learn to correct your mistakes: Saturday July 17.

Join Nancy to knit a Tulip Dishcloth and learn to read a graph and make a pattern in your knitting using only knit & purl stitches. One session class: Saturday, July 10.

Do you hate double point needles? Learn to use the magic loop method to knit small diameters instead of double point needles. One session class with Yvonne on Wednesday, July 14. This method is not just for socks.

Katarina Sweater with Thora Lee starts Monday, July 12 & Lillie Sweater on July 17.

Freebies & Resources

There are a plethora of free patterns originally published in an online format entitled "Prima." This site has some great patterns published by many well known knitwear designers including Debbie Bliss, Erika Knight, & companies such as Rowan.

Cap Sleeve Cardigan by Debbie Bliss. Definitely worth checking out and bookmark for future use.

Check out the cabled jacket AND THESE Toehugges.

I love the Rowan Lenpur Linen we added this season. It knits wonderfully, has great sheen, and makes a great all-season fabric. Check out this cable trimmed sweater knit in Lenpur.
