What's New: 11.4.09

It's not quite time for Bah Humbug, but as we all know the holidays are just around the corner. Three weeks until Thanksgiving and Only 7 weekends until Christmas. Yes, that's 51 days from today and less until Chanukah.

The holidays are a joyous time but they can be overwhelming for everyone, and especially for us moms. Sooo much shopping, wrapping, cooking and maybe even travel. Sometimes it takes a concerted effort to feel the JOY. My joy, and as I often refer to it as therapy, is knitting. And I know for some of you that is also true.

This year I have vowed to go LOW STRESS. I have planned all the hand knit gifts I think I can comfortably complete and hope this will make an incredible difference in my stress level this holiday season. I am going to spend evenings stitching while my husband is clicking the remote and try to stay out of the malls unless I have a PLAN.

And I know that every person who receives my hand knit (NOT HOME MADE) gift, no matter how simple or small, will be ecstatic.

OK, not the younger nieces and nephews so I might have to include a gift card or two... I am not stressing about knitting for everyone. I am just going to take my time. I think this plan may save me some money as well.

So before your Bah Humbugs set in think about de-stressing your holidays. Make your list and check it twice. Stop in this weekend, grab a cup of coffee and a cookie while attending one of our Holiday Idea demonstrations by Marie Mayhew and CId Hanscom.

Register to win a set of HiYa HiYa Interchangeable Knitting Needles.

Get 10% OFF your purchase when you bring a donation for the Troops through Sunday, November 8.

We will again have a great array of knit samples to provide you with gift giving ideas. The Interweave Knits Accessories Magazine arrived today and it is loaded with great, quick to knit ideas. I didn't have time to scan the cover in, but I already ordered a couple of dozen more of the magazine along with a restock of the Holiday Knits.

Upcoming Classes with Openings:

Knit with an Expert (Yvonne) on Sunday, November 8 from 2-4 pm
My Antonia Vest starts Saturday, November 14
Learn to Knit II: November 11- 6-8 pm

Pattern of the Month: Mock Turtleneck Sweater in Cascade Softspun

She uses a variety of her patterns to create special gift and entertaining ideas. Saturday, November 7 - 1 pm to 3 pm.

Join Cid Hanscom of CiD Designs as she demonstrates the versatility of ArtFelt in creating wonderful Holiday Ornaments. Sunday, November 8 at 2:00 pm.

Each Yarn Goddess at Amazing Threads has been knitting furiously again to create samples to provide inspiration for your holiday gift giving. Tina is working her magic on the floor and we are continuing to stock the shelves.

Stop in and pick up one of our Holiday Knit To Do Lists. Check out this free pattern for a Christmas Stocking from Lantern Moon. (I suggest Twinkle Soft Chunky or Cascade Magnum. This is a great way to start out your "sock knitting.").
